R. Carter Freeman, CMC
Chairman and CEO
Pasadena and Hong Kong
Carter has achieved superior results for clients by aggressively representing client interests. He is a resourceful problem solver and an outstanding deal maker who knows how to tell client stories to enhance value.
Carter Freeman founded Janas to provide Middle Market companies with the same level of sophisticated advice as their larger competitors. He was drawn to these companies because their entrepreneurial owners are innovators who created new approaches to their markets. Since founding Janas, Carter has recruited professionals from the successful ranks of other endeavors. He came from a consulting and transactional background and believes that the combination of sound business advice and experienced deal making create uncommonly successful outcomes for clients.
Carter is an inveterate deal maker. He founded his own accounting firm and soon thereafter made followed by a series of acquisitions. He subsequently merged and became a partner of Pannell Kerr Forster and transferred to Honolulu. He moved from public accounting to management consulting and served Pacific Rim companies and governmental entities.
As a leader at Pannell Kerr Forster & Company in Honolulu and Touche Ross & Co. in Honolulu and American Samoa, Carter completed economic development studies, negotiated transactions and evaluated projects. Clients included the Republic of China, Malaysia and Samoa, Marriott and Hilton and companies in a variety of manufacturing and distribution businesses.
Carter has directed the expansion of Janas to include investment bankers and consultants who serve international and domestic clients. He closes client transactions through a combination of innovative solutions and effective negotiations. He consults with clients to determine their strategic direction.
