Michael Poma has engaged in the petroleum distribution business for most of his career. He has developed in-depth relationships with petroleum distributors, major oil companies and other suppliers, and financing sources.
His depth of experience, training and knowledge resulted in Mike serving as a successful executive in petroleum distribution, including automated fueling, commercial and industrial lubricants, automotive lubricants, and petroleum equipment.
In 2006, Mike sold his controlling ownership interest in the Poma Companies, a consortium of three corporations engaged in petroleum distribution and related businesses, to his in-house management team. He was intricately involved in working with Janas Associates to arrange financing from Comerica Bank and a management buyout funded by private equity fund Levine Leichtman Capital Partners, Beverly Hills. Mike serves on the Poma Companies Board of Directors.
Mike has in-depth, hands-on experience in operations and finance and served as CEO of Poma companies for ten years. Mike acquired Poma Distributing Company, Inc. from his father and grew the company significantly during his decade of ownership.
Mike and a member of his management team subsequently acquired Poma Automated Fuels, Inc. from Mike’s father and significantly enhanced the Card Lock business in the Inland Empire region of Southern California.
Mike joined Janas Associates to focus on assignments related to the petroleum industry. He is particularly interested in the future direction of the petroleum distribution industry and brings his knowledge and experience to clients of the firm. His professional focus is primarily on petroleum distribution and manufacturing companies.
Mike is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). He has pursued professional and business development training seminars and is an experienced senior corporate manager.
