George E. Lipp

George E. Lipp is a Managing Director of Janas Consulting where he concentrates on the Visitor Industry. He and Carter Freeman, Chairman of Janas, were previously partners in the Honolulu office of Pannell Kerr Forster, CPA’s and Consultants, where George was Partner-in-Charge for 15-years.

He founded and managed George E. Lipp, Inc. from 1980, a consulting firm formed to deliver Management Consulting services to the Visitor Industry and related sectors. He was headquartered in Hong and Singapore from 1986 through 1998.

George has gained international recognition as a consultant to industries concentrated in the real estate sector and the Visitor Industry. He has been engaged as a consultant to the private sector and by governments and international agencies. He frequently collaborates on assignments with architects and engineers and other professionals on assignments that require a multi-discipline approach.

He has conducted market evaluation and economic feasibility studies for major hotel and resort developments, convention and conference centers, marinas, entertainment centers, and food and beverage outlets.

George has directed Tourism development assignments in Australia, Bangladesh, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Caledonia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. He divides his time between Sydney and Honolulu.

George received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Oregon State University and undertook graduate study in accounting at the University of Oregon. He is an inactive Certified Public Accountant in the states of Hawaii, California and Oregon. He has been a guest lecturer at the School of Travel Industry Management and the East-West Center of the University of Hawaii.

He is past president of the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants and served two terms on the governing council of the American Institute of CPA’s. He was active in the Pacific Asia Travel Association for many years and was a member of the Executive Committee. He was also active in the Hawaii Visitors Bureau and the Hawaii Hotel Association.
